Hey friends!
My friend and Canadian burlesque dancer, Miss Rosie Bitts needs your help! She is a proud and passionate entrepreneur in the burlesque community. Just recently, one of her shows was cancelled less than 24 hours before show time, due to bar policies of nudity and alcohol in the same joint (re: http://mondaymag.com/articles/entry/the-week-may-19/). Last time we checked, those policies were in place at the time of booking the show. This is obviously a bigger problem of censorship. Why can women strip for money at a bar with liquor, but a burlesque dancer can’t entertain a crowd with humour, positive mantras, and a little nudity?
So, due to the cancellations and lack of venues, she needs to raise $6000 by June 28th in order to do a show in Winnipeg! You can view the info here: http://www.indiegogo.com/The-Fabulous-Miss-Rosie-Bitts
How you can help: just simply tweeting or FBing the link (http://www.indiegogo.com/The-Fabulous-Miss-Rosie-Bitts) as a status update, and/or putting up something on your blog (or donating if you have the funds
).
Thanks for your support and the good karma!!
Peace & Love,
Justine
